Feeling Blue Over The Holidays?
Free Webinar: Group Coaching Grief Relief Session

Are you dealing with holiday grief, feeling blue and falling apart when it comes to the Holiday Season? Does the fact that even though you miss your loved one/s, you miss them even more over the Holidays?

The definition of the blues is "depressed spirits, despondency, melancholy." Those feelings are normal and you have every right to feel sad, angry, regret or any other emotion. Itís OK.

Those of us who have experienced death in the family, divorce, separation may be experiencing intense emotions during this time.

Especially in the early stages of grief, grieving causes us to be incapable of viewing life beyond the fog we find ourselves in. We believe that we will never be able to live life without pain again.

If youíve suffered the loss of a loved one, allow yourself to grieve no matter if people are partying all around you.

Give yourself permission to feel whatever emotions that surface up such as grief and loss, feeling sad, dread, regret, disappointment and so on and welcome, own, acknowledge, and embrace them fully and then let them dissipate. This will bring relief and the whole purpose of letting go is to make you feel better.

Then from this feeling better place one can move up the ladder of health and wellness. It is a known fact that anything that holds you for any length of time in a place of despondency will affect your physical & mental health and your behavior. So the aim is getting to a place where you feel better.

Here are some suggestions:
  • Be gentle and compassionate with yourself
  • Volunteer if you can. Especially during the holiday season many organizations in your community need volunteers who will help with seniors, children, soup kitchens, the library etc. Helping others can take the focus off oneís own pain, loneliness and loss. This allows us to put the focus on others instead of ourselves, connecting us to people who may need something that we are able to provide - our love and compassion.
  • Buying a gift for someone in need or donating to a charity in honor of your loved one.
  • Check out blogs, websites, books and newsletters that contain many helpful ideas which you could apply to your situation.

If you have the holiday blues and are dealing with grief during the holidays, I invite you to join me as we take this journey together to learn how releasing and healing grief and loss is imperative and the first step to start healing.
